Small, green and deliberately unhurried
A modest, nature-first site set back from the well-known beach at Blokhus, where you can drive onto the sand. There is no pool and no entertainment programme — instead there are generous grass pitches under mature trees, a wood-fired sauna, a communal fire pit and hedges that give every pitch a bit of privacy. Blokhus village and the beach are a short cycle away along a dedicated path, and the Rødhus dunes to the south are as empty as anywhere on this coast.

No queues, no tannoy, no inflatable anything. We sat by the fire pit every evening with people we'd never met. The sauna after a cold swim is the best thing on the north coast.

They lent us a bike pump, a corkscrew and a map of the dune trails within ten minutes of arriving. Pitches are big and green. Bring your own entertainment — that is the deal here.

We loved it; our nine-year-old missed a pool. Great for a couple or an older family who cycle. Beach is a genuinely lovely twelve minutes away.
