Family-run beach camping on the Little Belt, 13 km from Haderslev and Aabenraa
Gåsevig Strand Camping lies at Sønderballe on the Southern Jutland east coast, on a slope running straight down to its own bathing beach on the Little Belt. It is a genuinely family-run place — the beach is cleaned through the summer, sun loungers and parasols are free to use, and there is a bathing jetty, kayak hire, and banana-boat, tube and water-ski trips off the shore. Many pitches look out over the water; others sit behind hedges for shelter, so the site works in most kinds of weather. The nearest large towns, Haderslev and Aabenraa, are both 13 km away, which keeps traffic noise out entirely. Kitchens, lounges and family bathrooms have been renovated in recent years, and there is an indoor playroom with Lego, dolls, cars and a PlayStation for wet afternoons, plus a playground, jumping pillow and a defibrillator on site. Five cabins are available alongside pitches and rental tents, and the campsite has a partner deal on entry to Aabenraa Badeland and the Sportscentrum activity centre.
Value check: One of the cheapest beachfront pitches in Southern Jutland, and the beach is its own.

We have two children under six and this is the only site where we can genuinely relax. The water stays shallow for what feels like fifty metres, so they can wade on their own while we sit on the terrace with coffee. Facilities are simple but spotless.

No water slides, no disco, no entertainment team. Just a beautiful stretch of fjord and very friendly owners. The dog beach was a lovely surprise. Only note: pitches near the top of the site are a bit exposed on windy days.

Arrived on a whim on our way north and could not leave. Sunsets over the water are ridiculous. The little shop has proper bread in the morning.
