Pirate-themed island camping on the Bohuslän coast
Daftö sits on the water just south of Strömstad, on the granite-and-cottage coast of Bohuslän. The resort has leaned wholeheartedly into a pirate theme — an adventure park, a pirate ship, a swimming lagoon — while keeping the surrounding archipelago landscape intact: smooth pink rock, bathing jetties, kayaks and a small marina. Pitches range from open sea-view terraces to sheltered spots in the trees, and there are numerous cottages. It is a family destination first, with the Koster Islands ferry and Norwegian border ten minutes away.
Value check: Mid-range for the Swedish west coast, and almost everything for the children is included.

Twenty minutes over the border and considerably cheaper than home. Busy in July. Sea-view pitches are worth booking early.

Ferry from Strömstad to the Koster Islands, cycled all day, back for a sauna. The resort is a very comfortable base for that kind of week.
