Award-winning lakeside camping on Vänern
Repeatedly voted among Sweden's best campsites, KronoCamping Lidköping sits on the shore of Lake Vänern with its own sandy beach, a marina and a walkable route into the centre of Lidköping. The site is immaculately maintained — this is what its reputation rests on — with wide grass pitches, an unusually good service building, a heated pool and a restaurant on the water. Kinnekulle's flowering plateau and the extraordinary Läckö Castle are both short drives along the lake.
Value check: Consistently one of Sweden's best-kept sites at an ordinary pitch price — the value pick of the four.

The sanitary buildings are better than some hotels. Pitches are big, the beach is right there, and you can walk into town for dinner. Deserves its reputation.

Twenty-five minutes up the lake and one of the most beautiful buildings in Sweden. Back at the site for a swim in Vänern afterwards.

Everyone in Sweden knows about this place, so midsummer is full months ahead. Slightly pricier than average and clearly worth it.
