Lofoten Beach Camp

Arctic surf beach at Flakstad, pitches straight onto the sand

4.4(690)Est.130 pitchesNature lovers · Couples · Dog ownersOpen 1 May – 30 September

A young, sociable site on the crescent of white sand at Flakstad, on the outer side of Lofoten. Surfing is the reason it exists: there is a surf school, board and wetsuit hire, and a sauna facing the sea. Pitches are open and exposed with the mountains behind you, which is glorious in July and testing when the weather turns. It is a good base for the whole western Lofoten chain — Ramberg, Nusfjord and the Reine area are all within an hour's drive on the E10. The midnight sun runs from late May to mid-July; the site closes for the deep winter.

Value check: Not cheap, but Lofoten accommodation of any kind is expensive and this is the affordable end of it.
