A huge beach village at the mouth of the Venetian lagoon
Marina di Venezia sits at the very tip of the Cavallino peninsula, with a wide private beach on one side and the lagoon entrance on the other. It is one of Europe's largest campsites, built around an aquapark with slides and a lazy river, a long shopping and restaurant street, a sailing school and a surf centre. Pitches are sandy and shaded by pines, with the front rows a short walk from the sea. The ferry terminal for Venice is at the end of the road, making a spontaneous evening in the city genuinely possible.
Value check: Huge, sociable and mid-range for the Adriatic — pitch price drops a lot outside August.

The slides kept the children occupied and the beach kept us happy. Ferry to Venice is fifteen minutes from the gate — we went twice, once at night, which was magical.

You will need a bicycle. Everything is well run for the scale, though in August the restaurant queues are long. Beach is cleaned every morning.
