The Adriatic's original camping village, an hour from Venice
Union Lido effectively invented the Italian camping village, and it remains the benchmark: a self-contained town on the Cavallino peninsula with a private 1.2 km beach, an aquapark, a lagoon pool, a spa, a shopping street, a church, a nature park and a driving school for children. Pitches sit in a pine and poplar grid; the newer glamping lodges are genuinely luxurious. Venice is a bus and a boat away — about an hour door to Piazza San Marco — which makes it one of the few sites where a city break and a beach holiday genuinely coexist.
Value check: One of the most expensive sites here. Brilliant for children, but you are paying resort prices.

Bus from outside the gate to Punta Sabbioni, ferry to San Marco, back for a swim before dinner. That combination is hard to beat anywhere in Europe.

Faultless organisation and very clean. It is also the most expensive camping we have done, and in high season it is extremely busy. Worth it once.
