A heathland holiday park built around a swimming lake
Südsee-Camp is a destination in its own right: a large, professionally run holiday park in the Lüneburg Heath, arranged around a sandy swimming lake with a beach, a tropical-themed indoor pool complex, a climbing forest, a small farm and a long list of things for children to do. Pitches range from simple grass places under birch trees to fully serviced comfort pitches, and there are hundreds of lodges and safari tents. It is not quiet camping and does not pretend to be — it is an eight-day plan for a family with school-age children.
Value check: Not cheap in August, but the pool world is included and it saves you a paid day out every wet day.

Climbing forest, lake, indoor pool with slides, mini golf, farm animals. We barely left the site in nine days and nobody complained once. Adults: bring earplugs and a good book.

Very well organised, clean, plenty of staff. But it is a holiday park, not a campsite — if you want heath silence, drive twenty minutes further.

Half price in May, everything already open, lake still a bit cold. The comfort pitches with your own water and drain are worth the upgrade.
